  While some chiropractors claim to treat a multitude of conditions, the fact is, chiropractic manual therapy has been shown to be effective primarily for low back pain, neck pain and headaches.  

Other forms of physical medicine, which some chiropractors provide, are quite effective in many cases for herniated discs as well (see Averting Disc Surgery). This is supported by scientific evidence.
